Big Dog's second Christmas has arrived!
It’s been a busy 2025 for me and I can’t quite believe that we are nearly in single digits on the Christmas countdown. Something that's becoming more regular for me as we approach the end of the year is reflection (a sign of getting old some would say). The events of the year, the wins, the pitfalls - you name it, I'm thinking about.
Different from last year thought, I'm feeling very content in what’s been achieved this year.
Sure, I could have been more on it - grabbed opportunities quicker, done more pop-ups, pushed harder on social media, made more of a stab at finalising book two - but for once, I’m appreciating the small wins and being very happy with what I’ve managed to do. Go me. Ching, ching. Bottoms up old fella!
To all the people who have supported this year, thank you. To the market visitors, to the social media followers, to the businesses reaching out to help spread Big Dog's story on my behalf - thank you. They say it takes a village, and I most definitely feel like the village showed up this year.
For me, hearing that people love reading Big Dog’s story is what fills my cup. When customers visit me at events and ask if I have book two penned yet, what a feeling. That said feeling I can’t quite put into words but it means the world. Sure, the feeling of overwhelm soon comes swooping in thinking about how I'll ring fence time to write and illustrate, but in the words of Dr Ian Malcolm as portrayed by Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park (come on, as if I was going to quote someone profound here!), “Life, uh, finds a way.”
That’s the mantra I’m taking into 2026.
Be kind to yourselves people and things will eventually happen.
